Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program Overview:

 

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver compassionate, high-quality care to patients in healthcare settings such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, and home health environments. This program prepares students to meet the requirements set forth by the State of California to become a licensed CNA and provides hands-on experience to succeed in the field of nursing.

Admission Requirements

 

To enroll in the CNA program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Be at least 16 years of age at the time of enrollment.

• Pass an assessment test demonstrating proficiency in English and Math.

• Possess a valid Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).

• Complete a Live Scan criminal background check as required by the State of California.

• Be in good physical health and able to perform the physical tasks required in the CNA role.

• Additional Clinical Site requirements may include:

  • TB test or a negative chest X-ray

  • Covid vaccination

  • Current Flu vaccine

  • Hepatitis B vaccination

In-Person Classes

(AM Program Length: 6 Weeks, PM Program Length: 9 Weeks, Weekend Program 12 Weeks )

• Get direct help in our real classrooms and skills lab.

• Face-to-face teaching with printed module lessons.

• Peer support.  Collaborate with your classmates in person.

• 60 hours of in-person participation is required to complete the theory portion.

• 100 hours of in-person clinical participation is required to complete the clinical portion.​

Online-Hybrid Classes (Synchronous)

(AM Program Length: 6 Weeks, or PM Program Length: 9 Weeks)

• Best for busy schedules who may have limited transportation options.​

• The theory portion of the CNA program is taught LIVE online through one of our experienced instructors.

• Your choice of either a live morning class or a live evening class online.

• You will complete your theory modules and quizzes on your computer. 

• 60 hours of online participation is required to complete the theory portion.

• Then afterwards, you must come IN-PERSON for the required Clinical hands-on training

• 100 hours of IN-PERSON clinical participation is required to complete the clinical portion.

Hardware and Software Requirements (for Online-Hybrid classes)

Hardware Requirements:::

• Computer/Device: A working laptop or desktop computer (Windows 10+ or macOS 10.13+) or a modern Chromebook. Avoid smartphones or tablets as primary devices because they limit document editing and multi-window viewing.

• Processor & Memory: Minimum dual-core 2 GHz processor (Intel i3/i5 or AMD equivalent) with at least 4 GB of RAM (8 GB is recommended for smoother multitasking).

• Camera & Audio: Internal or external webcam, built-in microphone, and speakers or a headset for clear communication during Zoom lectures.

Software Requirements:::

• Operating System: Up-to-date Windows, macOS, or ChromeOS.

• Web Browser: Google Chrome (latest version preferred) or Firefox.

• Platforms & Tools: Access to the Zoom Desktop App for video calling and Google Classroom.

Internet Connection Requirements:::

• Bandwidth: High-speed broadband internet (at least 1.5 to 2 Mbps upload and download) to prevent lagging or lagging audio during live Zoom video sessions.

Grade Requirements for the CNA Program

 

Students must pass all module exams and quizzes with a 70% or better grade in order to continue to the Clinical portion the training program.

Grading will be as follows:

​

• 90% - 100%      = A

• 80% - 89%        = B

• 70% - 79%        = C

• 69 % or below  = F (Failing)

  • You will be allowed to retake the module exam 2 times.  If you are unsuccessful in passing the exam, you must repeat the module lesson.

Required Coursework

 

 

To become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in California, you must complete a minimum of 160 total hours of approved training divided into classroom theory and supervised clinical practice.

• 60 Hours of classroom theory (in-person or online)

• 100 Hours of clinical practice (IN-PERSON ONLY)

Program Curriculum

 

Our program covers a comprehensive range of topics, ensuring students are well-prepared for their roles as CNAs. Some topics include:

• Patient rights and confidentiality (HIPAA)

• Basic nursing care skills (vital signs, hygiene, and mobility)

• Emergency procedures and infection control

• Nutrition and hydration

• Communication and interpersonal skills

• Understanding the aging process and dementia care

• Care for patients with special needs

• Legal and ethical responsibilities

• Hands-on clinical training under supervision in real-world healthcare settings

 

Upon successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to take the California State Certification Exam to become a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Deadlines

 

• You must complete, and pass your module exams by the exam due date in order to proceed to clinical training.  

• You must also complete your theory and clinical training within the time frame of your chosen program schedule that you enrolled in to graduate.

• All financial obligations must also be met before graduating.

• A morning, evening, or weekends schedule for our In-Person program.

• A morning, or evening schedule for our Online-Hybrid program.
