Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program

 

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver compassionate, high-quality care to patients in healthcare settings such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, and home health environments. This program prepares students to meet the requirements set forth by the State of California to become a licensed CNA and provides hands-on experience to succeed in the field of nursing.

Program Curriculum

 

The program covers a comprehensive range of topics, ensuring students are well-prepared for their roles as CNAs. Topics include:

  • Patient rights and confidentiality (HIPAA)

  • Basic nursing care skills (vital signs, hygiene, and mobility)

  • Emergency procedures and infection control

  • Nutrition and hydration

  • Communication and interpersonal skills

  • Understanding the aging process and dementia care

  • Care for patients with special needs

  • Legal and ethical responsibilities

  • Hands-on clinical training under supervision in real-world healthcare settings

 

Upon successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to take the California state certification exam to become a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Admission Requirements

 

To enroll in the CNA program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be at least 16 years of age at the time of enrollment.

  • Pass an entrance exam demonstrating proficiency in English and Math at an 8th-grade level or higher.

  • Possess a valid Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN).

  • Complete a Live Scan criminal background check as required by the State of California.

  • Be in good physical health and able to perform the physical tasks required in the CNA role.
